Short Job Description:
Attaway Services is seeking an experienced and dependable Mechanic to maintain, repair, and service our fleet of trucks, equipment, and tools used across construction and industrial projects.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and capable of diagnosing mechanical issues quickly and accurately. You’ll play a key role in keeping field operations running smoothly by ensuring all equipment performs reliably and efficiently. This position requires hands-on skill, accountability, and a strong understanding of mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on heavy and light equipment, vehicles, and tools.
- Perform preventive maintenance, oil changes, filter replacements, and scheduled inspections on all company equipment.
- Troubleshoot engine problems, brake systems, hydraulic systems, and drivetrain components.
- Maintain accurate service records, parts usage, and maintenance logs.
- Order and track parts and supplies as needed, coordinating with supervisors for larger purchases.
- Perform field service repairs as required to minimize downtime on active job sites.
- Ensure all repairs meet manufacturer and safety standards.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe working areas in the shop and field.
- Assist in training operators on proper equipment care and basic troubleshooting.
- Comply with company safety policies and OSHA regulations at all times.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of mechanic experience working with construction, industrial, or fleet vehicles/equipment.
- Strong knowledge of diesel and gas engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Ability to diagnose issues using both manual and electronic diagnostic tools.
- Experience with heavy equipment such as loaders, excavators, compressors, and generators preferred.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL a plus.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding work as needed.
- Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
- Basic computer skills for logging maintenance data and service reports.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in automotive/mechanical repair preferred.
- Own tools preferred but not required.
